How do I publish with FrontPage? Please refer to the FrontPage Publishing Guide for all questions concerning publishing with FrontPage.
How do I order and use FrontPage? FrontPage is client-and-server software, which basically means that both you and Redglue need to have your own respective version of FrontPage in order for it to work. The client side of the software (that's you) must be bought from a software store, or you may already have it installed on your computer. The server-side software, which we already own, can be installed for you at any time for free. Simply send a request to support and give us your username, and we will program your account accordingly. Once you know that we have installed the FrontPage extensions, there are two ways to upload with FrontPage. If you are using the FrontPage extensions, please see our FrontPage Publishing Guide. If you are using the standard FTP method to upload, then you only need your server name, server path, username, and password. All of these are included in the Welcome Letter that was e-mailed to you when you first became a customer. If you do not know this information and you cannot locate the original e-mail, we can e-mail it to you again if you send a request to support. Hint:
What will FrontPage cost me? Redglue does not charge you to have the FrontPage extensions on your server. You only need to purchase the FrontPage software that you must have on your computer. Please check the Microsoft website for current pricing details.
How do I create my website with FrontPage? Redglue cannot instruct you how to use the software to build your pages, however, there are many user groups on the Web that should be able to help. Take some time to visit a search engine such as Yahoo, Altavista, or Excite, and search for "FrontPage help" or "FrontPage user groups".
How do I use FrontPage with the Redglue Shopping Cart? FrontPage is not compatible with our CartSnap software and cannot be used to publish your pages to CartSnap. However, the cart is very customizable so you can include the same colors, graphics, look and feel when building your shopping cart.
How do I use FrontPage with my secure server area? Microsoft FrontPage is not compatible with SSL servers and cannot be used to publish secure pages.
Can I use FTP to upload files? No. If you are using FrontPage for your server, you should not use FTP at any time. FrontPage is not compatible with FTP, and you will run the risk of corrupting your files and ruining your site if you try to use FTP.
What is a SubWeb? A FrontPage SubWeb is Microsoft's version of virtual hosting. SubWebs allow you to provide your virtual domains with the ability to publish their own website with a unique username and password. Also SubWebs will prevent any “bleeding” of any shared borders that you have between you and your virtual domains.
I tried to create a SubWeb with FrontPage and a message came up that said I could not create one. Why did this happen? For security reasons, Redglue has not allowed clients to create their own SubWebs on Redglue servers. When you need to create a SubWeb, please ask us to do it for you through the support form here . Don't forget to tell us in which domain or directory you would like for us to put the SubWeb.
Can I have SubWebs automatically installed when I place a virtual domain order? At this time, you cannot automatically install SubWebs when you order. We will implement this feature sometime in the near future.
How do I set up my e-mail transport? In FrontPage, you can configure a form that will send the contents as an e-mail message. In order to send e-mail from the Web server on which the form is stored, you must configure the FrontPage Server Extensions to deliver the e-mail to an e-mail transport. If you are having any problems, you might want to check your frontpg.ini file. WARNING! DO NOT CHANGE ANYTHING in your frontpg.ini file without the help of Microsoft FrontPage Technical Support - you could do serious damage! You can, however, check the file to make sure your SMTPHost line is present and correct.
